reaching out
We understand ourselves as a people gathered by God from across the National Capital Area to maintain a witness of Christian heritage and hope at the centre of the region.
Currently, we are focusing on the third year of our vision of renewal and growth – a call to extend our invitation and witness in our world. Three congregational wide focus projects have begun which will draw us into our wider community. Extending these helping relationships offers exciting opportunities to promote the ministry of Christ to others beyond our doors, to reach out to our neighbors in need, and to personally connect with and learn from Christians in other parts of the world.

Daybreak Housing
This local project centres on extending our partnership with Daybreak Housing, which operates five homes in Ottawa for single, low-income men and women who need help in rebuilding their lives when shattered by mental illness, substance abuse or abusive relationships. This organization, which is supported by centre town churches, currently requires both financial and hands on support.
Gracefield Camp and Conference Centre
There are many opportunities for increasing congregational support to Gracefield Presbyterian Camp, including giving needy children in our community a Christian camping experience, providing youth with a working experience during the summer, supporting regular maintenance and up-keep through a working team, sponsoring study groups and conferences and providing for financial and/or material needs.
Local missions
Through member involvement and financial giving, St. Andrew's supports a number of other local missions such as the Ottawa Mission, Centre 507, the Interval House shelter, the Ottawa Centretown Laundry Co-op and other local social initiatives.

Jobat, India
To extend our knowledge and experience internationally, St. Andrew's is focusing on developing a partnership with a Christian community in Jobat, India. An exchange of faith experience and the providing of support to a community which faces many challenges, including persecution, would strengthen us in our own faith and witness.
For two weeks in the summer of 2008, three members of St. Andrew’s participated in a Youth In Mission trip to the Bhil Mission Field in central India. They were joined by eight other youth from across Canada. Read more of their experiences.
In February 2010, St. Andrew's took the next step in building our relationship with the people of this area in India. Five members of St. Andrew's visited the congregation of the First Church Amkhut as part of a larger mission trip to North India organised by the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
