Throughout the Year

Worship Services – 9:30a.m. & 11:00 a.m. each Sunday
Two services of worship on Sunday mornings, the choir leads the singing at the 11a.m. service. (Throughout the summer, one combined service at 10:00 a.m.)

Communion Sunday – 1st Sundays in October, December, March and June
During both the 9:30 and 11a.m. Sunday services, all who are members of any branch of the Church of Christ are invited to the Holy Table for the sacrament of the Lord’s supper.

Church School – 11:00 a.m. each Sunday, (10:00 a.m. during the summer)
Seven age appropriate classes for children 3-15 led by trained and caring teachers. A combined One Room Schoolhouse takes place during July and August. Nursery is available at all services for infants.

Kids’ Church – selected Saturday afternoons throughout the year
A time of worship and activities for children 6 and under, with their siblings, parents and grandparents.

Congregational Groups – meeting throughout the week
Small groups for all ranges of ages and interests.  A list of all our groups is available here, or visit the Activities Calendar.

Annual Congregational Retreat – one weekend in the year
Held at Gracefield Camp & Conference Centre, lots of activities for individuals and families, a time for reflection and learning together.


Autumn

Mid-week Communion – Wednesdays, 12:10-12:30 p.m.
An opportunity to pause during a busy week for the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.

Organ Tuesdays – Tuesdays, 12:10-12:45 p.m.
Select Tuesdays throughout the year, a break in the busy workday for a recital on the recently re-voiced Guilbault-Thérien organ.

Rally Sunday – 3rd Sunday in September
Kicking off the start of Church School with activities for the children and a corn boil for the whole congregation.

Police Memorial Parade – Sunday late September
As Police and Peace Officers march past the church on the way to the Memorial Service on Parliament Hill, only one worship service takes place at 11:00 a.m.

Thanksgiving Sunday – 2nd Sunday in October
Surrounded by cornstalks and harvest vegetables, we give God thanks for the blessings of life.

Special Communion – Saturday afternoon, mid October
An opportunity for members who may not be able to attend regular communion services. Followed by high tea.

Rummage Sale – Saturday afternoon, mid October
Proceeds support projects in the church and community. Contributions are most welcome.

Scottish Tea and Bazaar – Last Saturday of November
Organized by the Women’s Guild, wear your tartan and peruse the crafts and goods for sale.

Autumn Wednesday Studies – Wednesday evenings, mid October
6 consecutive Wednesday evenings, meeting for a simple supper at 6pm and gathering in small groups for study.


Winter

Communion Sunday – 1st Sunday in December

Choir Concert – Sunday afternoon, mid December
The choir leads us as we joyfully celebrate Christ’s birth with carols and special music.

Family Service – Christmas Eve, 6:30 p.m.
The Church School and members of the congregation practice throughout December to perform the Christmas story.

Midnight Service – Christmas Eve, 10:00 p.m.
A beautiful candlelit service of music and scripture as we prepare our hearts for Christmas day.

Christmas Day Service – Christmas Day, 11:00 a.m.
Celebrating Christ’s birth together on Christmas morning.

New Year’s Service – First Sunday in January
Beginning a new calendar year as we worship together.

Burns’ Supper – Late January
Hosted by the Men’s Fellowship group, celebrating Robbie Burns Day with haggis and stories and laughter.

Congregational Sleighride – Last Sunday afternoon in January
An afternoon sleighride then warming up with indoor games and hot chocolate.

Annual General Meeting – Last Sunday in February
Congregational meeting to reflect on the year past, and plan for the year ahead.

Winter Wednesday Studies – Wednesday evenings throughout the Lenten season
6 consecutive Wednesday evenings, meeting for a warm supper at 6pm and gathering in small groups for study.


Spring

Palm Sunday – Sunday before Easter
During the 11a.m. service, the children process into the sanctuary with palm branches as remember Christ’s entry into Jerusalem.

Good Friday Service – 11:00 a.m. Good Friday morning
A thoughtful service of music and scripture to reflect on Christ’s death for us.

Easter Sunday – 11:00 a.m. Service only
One combined service as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection from the dead. Service preceded by a congregational breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

Rummage Sale – Saturday in early April
A chance to donate unused items, and acquire new treasures! Proceeds support projects in the church and community

Special Communion – Saturday afternoon in May
An opportunity for members who may not be able to attend regular communion services. Followed by high tea.

Race Weekend – Late May
During the Ottawa Marathon, only one service of worship is held at 11:00 a.m.

Congregational Picnic – 3rd Sunday in June
Wrapping up the Church School year with a congregational BBQ and games on the Supreme Court Lawn.


Summer

Sunday Worship at 10:00 a.m. – Last Sunday in June through August (including Labour Day Weekend)
One Sunday morning service at 10:00 a.m. with a combined One Room Schoolhouse for children 2-12 (nursery available for infants.)

Wednesday BBQ’s – 6:00 p.m., Wednesdays in July
An informal time of food and friendship, with games for the children in the courtyard.
