Refugee Sponsorship
St Andrews is delighted to announce our latest refugee sponsorship of Naseem Al Zoubani and his young family from Syria and living in Jordan. Our sponsorship application was recently approved by IRCC as part of the Presbyterian Church of Canada annual allocation. This family is being co-sponsored by Naseer and Nawal Al Zoubane, the parents of Naseem. The Al Zoubane parents and most of their family members escaped from Syria to Jordan and arrived in Canada in 2016 when Canada resettled more than 40,000 Syrian refugees. Naseem is their eldest son and the only one left who has not yet been resettled.
Reverend Karen Dimock and the congregation were pleased to welcome the parents and younger siblings at our monthly luncheon on Sunday, January 26th 2025. We are very pleased to be assisting the Al Zoubanes in sponsoring their eldest son and family to reunite with them in Ottawa. For further details, and if you wish to help out, please contact Nathalie Bradbury, the St Andrews Refugee Sponsorship Coordinator, at office@standrewsottawa.ca
St Andrews Church Ottawa is one of the oldest churches in Ottawa and has been active in sponsoring refugees since the Vietnamese boat crisis in the 1970s.
